Chief John “Jack” Dunn began his career in law enforcement while serving in the United States Air Force from 1985-1990. Chief Dunn served in the United Kingdom for three years, and in Arkansas.
In 1990 Chief Dunn joined the Guilford, Conn. Police Department. He served as a patrol officer, field training officer, detective, sergeant, shift commander, training coordinator, SWAT team operator, and SWAT team commander, detective sergeant, lieutenant, CALEA accreditation team, and deputy chief. Chief Dunn retired from the Guilford Police in 2016, after 26 years of service.
Chief Dunn was sworn in as the Chief of Police for the Town of Hull in December 2016.
Chief Dunn has received numerous commendations throughout his career He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement Administration, a Master’s Degree in National Security and Public Safety both from the University of New Haven, and a Master certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia. He is also a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy’s 249th Session.
Chief Dunn is married and is the father of three adult children.
